Stories Matter

What's your story? Wait! Not the one you share with new people you meet at a party or at a coffee shop, but the one you tell yourself daily.
The story you tell yourself is much more powerful than the story you share with the people you meet. Your internal story shapes your future for good or bad.
Often the biggest obstacle in achieving your goals is the story you tell yourself. Let me rephrase that, your biggest roadblock may be the story you are continually telling yourself. For some individuals, their narratives sound a lot like this. "I'm too old, I'm not smart enough, I grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, I don't have the education to succeed, or I don't know the right people."
The real tragedy is that they have mastered their disempowering story and repeated 100's of times to themselves during their lifetime. In a way, they have conditioned themselves to believe it. They have brainwashed themselves.
On the other hand, some individuals tell themselves a more compelling story. A story like, "I live in America, and I have an abundance of opportunities. I'm creative, intelligent, and have a great skill set."
If we are not mindful, our internal story can sabotage us in achieving our goals and dreams. But by consciously monitoring and editing the story you tell yourself, you can remove many obstacles that keep you from achieving the success you desire.
What's your story? Take a few minutes to write it down. Then make the appropriate edits so that it empowers you and does not hinder you.
