The Key To Stress Management

The vast majority of people today believe that stress comes from external circumstances, pressures, and fears. But the simple truth is that stress is not caused by external events. Before you disagree and shut me down, give me a moment to explain.
This is why two individuals can face the exact same circumstances and experience two totally different emotional responses. One individual experiences a high level of stress and anxiety while the other one experiences complete peace and tranquility.
Stress is caused by the MEANING we attach to the external circumstances we encounter in our life. Not the other way around. That's right! The meaning you choose to give your circumstances will either reduce or significantly increase your stress.
For example, if you notice a small mole on your body, you can attach the meaning that it's cancer or dismiss it as just your genetics. You get the point.
Next time a relationship ends, instead of deciding to see that event as a loss or rejection. Make a conscious decision to see it as an opportunity to meet new exciting, and fascinating people. It was their loss, not yours. This will immediately begin to reduce the stress you feel about that particular situation.
If you don't believe me, change the meaning of the external circumstances you're experiencing right now and see how it affects your stress levels.
You have the power to choose the meaning of every situation and event you experience. Take a moment and take inventory of all the external circumstances that are causing you stress. One by one, change the meaning you attached to that event to reduce and possibly eliminate most of the stress you are experiencing.
