The Power of Forgiveness: A Prayer To Forgive Others

It’s crucial to remind both yourself and your spiritual adversary that you have chosen forgiveness and are patiently awaiting God's complete healing work.

As you embark on this journey, recite the following prayer out loud for each person you need to forgive. Speak these words with intention and faith, trusting that God is working in your heart.

A Prayer to Forgive Others

Dear Heavenly Father,

I confess that I have harbored unforgiveness in my heart toward others. This is a willful act of disobedience and sin. Forgive me for believing the lie that it’s acceptable to hold on to unforgiveness. This sin was an attempt to defend myself, rooted in a lack of trust in You to handle the situation.

I choose to forgive (name the person) for (name the offense -- be as detailed as necessary). This choice is based on my desire to be obedient to Your Word. I trust that my emotions will align with my decision in due time.

Father, this person made me feel (describe your hurt and pain to the Lord - be as detailed as necessary). I ask You to take away all the hurt and pain. I surrender it all to You. In exchange, please grant me healing, peace, joy, and understanding.

Father, I renounce all lies and unforgiveness in my life. I place them under the blood of Jesus and receive Your forgiveness and healing. I bless those who have hurt me and pray that Your perfect will be done in their lives.

Please give me the daily strength to walk out this decision.
